Alon Shaya in Conversation with Joan Nathan

March 17, 2018 @ 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm

As unique as the distinctive blend of creole flavors and Israeli dishes featured at Shaya, his third New Orleans restaurant, Shaya’s book is as much a memoir and photo album as it is a cookbook. With a brilliant chef’s ability to turn experiences into recipes, Shaya recounts his journey from Israel to Philadelphia to Italy, back to Israel, and then on to New Orleans with a set of stories, full-color photographs, and one hundred recipes that emphasize food’s role in connecting disparate places and people. A two-time James Beard Award winner, Shaya thanks cooking for saving his life and treats us to dishes such as speckled trout with tahini and pine nuts; marinated soft cheese with herbs and spices; whole roasted cauliflower with whipped feta; and more. Shaya will be in conversation with Joan Nathan, award-winning author of many cookbooks, most recently King Solomon’s Table.
