SUMMARY:Italian Seder at AR Cucina in Los Angeles
DESCRIPTION:JOIN US FOR FIRST NIGHT SEDER\nWITH OUR FRIEND JOAN NATHAN & HER NEW BOOK\nKING SOLOMON’S TABLE\nA Culinary Exploration of Jewish Cooking from Around the World\nMonday April 10th\, Arrival & Reception 6:00pm\, Seder 6:30pm\nFrom the James Beard Award-winning\, much-loved cookbook author and authority: an around-the-world collection of recipes from the global Jewish diaspora—an essential book of cooking and culture. \nDriven by a passion for discovery\, King Solomon is said to have sent ships to all corners of the ancient world\, initiating a mass cross-pollination of culinary cultures that continues to bear fruit today. With King Solomon’s appetites and explorations in mind\, here celebrated author Joan Nathan gathers more than 170 recipes that span the millennia: from classics like Yemenite Chicken Soup with Dill\, Cilantro\, and Parsley; Spinach and Feta Bourekas; Hummus with Preserved Lemon and Cumin; and Hamantaschen with Poppy Seed or Chocolate Filling…to contemporary riffs on traditional dishes such as Smokey Shakshuka with Tomatoes\, Peppers\, and Eggplant; Homemade Herbed Labneh with Beets and Puy Lentils; Baghdadi Chicken with Rice\, Coconut\, and Cilantro; and Roman Ricotta Cheese Torte. We travel with Joan from India to France\, from Italy to Mexico\, from El Salvador to Israel and\, of course\, all across North America\, in a gorgeously illustrated culinary exploration that is filled with fascinating historical details\, personal histories\, and fantastic recipes that showcase the diversity of Jewish cuisine. It is the most ambitious and satisfying book of Joan Nathan’s stellar\, four decades-long career. \n\nSEDER\nMonday April 10th\, 2017\nThe Seder will be led by Rabbi Laura Owens* \narrival & reception\, 6 pm\nchopped chicken liver\nsicilian eggplant caponata\, jewish-style\nsalmon gefilte mold with beet horsradish\nmatzoh & gluten free matzoh \nseder & dinner to follow 6:30 pm\nseder plate\nroasted egg | beet horseradish\nroasted shank bone | vegetables & bitter herbs\nhalleq\, persian haroset\ndates\, apples\, pistachios\,  pomegranate juice\nferrara\, haroset\nchestnuts\, pine nuts\, pears and dried fruit\nmatzoh & gluten free matzoh\n•••\nfirst course-served family style\nlong cooked eggs with spinach\nmoroccan beet & orange salad with pistachios\ntunisian carrot salad with cumin\, coriander & caraway\nmatbucha\, north african cooked tomato salad\nspiced fried matzo\n•••\nmain course-choose one\nbraised short ribs with almonds\, dried plums & star anise\nor\ndouble-lemon roast chicken with carrot\, fennel & sundried tomatoes\nor\nakasha’s eggplant bake with almond ricotta\npaprikás krumpli\, hungarian roasted potatoes with onions\ncarciofi alla giudia\, fried artichokes-jewish style\n•••\ndessert-family style\nwalnut-almond macaroons with raspberry jam\ncashew nut strudel with guava & lime\nginger almond sponge cake with cardamom & pistachios\nlocal market berries\n•••\n$95.00 per person\, includes house wine or juice & signed cookbook\n$45.00\, for children under 12\, includes juice\, & no cookbook\nexclusive of tax & gratuity \nPassover food rules are strictly followed.
