SUMMARY:Dinner at Zingerman's Roadhouse
DESCRIPTION:A personal journey discovering Jewish cuisine from around the world.\nThe Roadhouse is so excited to welcome back Jewish cuisine expert and longtime friend\, Joan Nathan\, for an unforgettable evening on Tuesday\, May 7th! We will celebrate the release of her latest cookbook\, My Life in Recipes: Food\, Family\, and Memories\, in which Joan shares stories and recipes from her own family history. \nA tour de force of Jewish cooking\, Joan is a James Beard Award-winning cookbook author (and a University of Michigan grad). With her previous 11 books\, she has gathered timeless and delicious experiences from the far corners of the world to share with us. Touted the “queen of American Jewish cooking” (Houston Chronicle)\, Joan is about to release her most personal book yet\, in which she uses recipes that look back at her family’s history— their arrival in America from Germany; her childhood in postwar New York and Rhode Island; her years in Paris\, New York\, Israel\, and Washington\, DC. This highly-anticipated work offers over 100 recipes\, including some newly released dishes\, two of which will be featured at this dinner! \nWine-lovers will have an option to enjoy the four-course meal with expertly paired selections from Laurentide Winery’s exquisite collection. Susan and Bill Braymer (also University of Michigan grads) will talk us through how the ancient flavors of their New World wines highlight the ancient flavors of Joan’s Old World dishes. The Leelanau vineyard earned its name due to its rich soil that is layered with fossils and minerals left behind by the Laurentide glacier\, which carved the geography of Michigan over 10\,000 years ago. We are thrilled to welcome their expertise for what will be a night to remember! \nDo not miss this event\, as we welcome back our friends Joan Nathan and the Braymers from Laurentide Winery! Joan will also be available for a book signing at the Roadhouse from 4:30-5:30pm for anyone who wants to purchase the book but cannot attend the dinner. \n
